MAA

See her in action.

She lives on your desktop.

Over your code, your doomscrolling, your everything.

She walks in. Anywhere.
Nags with love. Takes answers.
Ignore her? See section below.

Ignore her at your own risk.

No reminder app has consequences. A mother does.

Maa asking sweetly
1 · She asks. Sweetly.
Maa angry
2 · Hands on hips.
Maa turned away
3 · She turns away.
4 · The silent treatment.

It can be YOUR mom.

Mine ships by default. Yours takes about an hour.

My mom, on her first trip to Bangalore
The same mom, as pixels

That’s my mom.

That photo is her first trip to Bangalore to see me. Generate your own mother the same way with the step-by-step guide.

She can learn your day.

Your meal times, your sleep hours, your timetable. She works around them.

Out of the box she runs on her own sense of time. Give her a schedule and she uses yours instead: breakfast if you eat it, your real lunch hour, the time you actually sleep, and the blocks on your calendar. Tell her Monday 2pm is upsolving and she will open the block, then come back mid-way to check you are still on it.

Install help: Terminal one-liner, and the one-time macOS ask
  1. Fastest way: the Terminal one-liner at the top of this page. Zero clicks, zero warnings.
  2. On Windows: pick the Windows tab up top and paste the PowerShell one-liner. If SmartScreen ever asks, it’s More info → Run anyway: once, then never again.
  3. Downloaded the DMG instead? Drag Fikar into Applications and open it. macOS says it "could not verify" the app: normal for apps from outside the App Store. Click Done.
  4. Open System Settings → Privacy & Security, scroll down, click "Open Anyway", confirm. That's it, forever.
  5. Prefer Terminal? This does the same in one line:
    xattr -cr /Applications/Fikar.app
  6. The app makes zero network requests. Read exactly what it does on the privacy page. (The Terminal install above skips all of this.)
Good to know
  1. Mac: ⌃⌥M summons Maa from anywhere. Windows: Ctrl+Alt+M. Missing her? Call her.
  2. Right-click Maa while she is on screen (or her icon) for all settings: Fikar level, Mandir mode (1 hour of peace), and summoning by category.
  3. On Mac she lives in the menu bar as a tiny face (notch hiding it? hold ⌘ and drag it left). On Windows she is in the system tray by the clock: if Windows tucks her behind the chevron, drag her face onto the bar so she stays visible.
  4. Ignore her at your own risk. She escalates, and eventually stops speaking to you.
How is Maa?
